El Caminito del Rey (also called The King's Trail) is one of the most dangerous hiking trails in the world. The path was laid out in 1901 to make the transport of goods and personnel to and from the central between the Choro and Gaitanejo waterfalls easier and quicker. In 1905, after a construction period of 4 years, the path was officially opened.

After a railway line was built in the valley, the path was little used and it has been neglected over time. This, however, did not stop fanatical hikers from taming the path, creating very unsafe situations and even killing people.

This makes the path of 7.7 km now safe to walk. In order to be able to make this special walking tour of approximately 3.5 hours, you have to reserve tickets well in advance via this website.
